Good morning,
The last two days have been full of prayer, conversation, and learning more about the current ramifications of COVID-19 and the impact on our church, community and beyond. Your vestry and I are notifying you about measures we are taking to best care for your physical, spiritual, and emotional health during this time.
We will not hold services this Sunday on campus. This is an incredibly hard decision for me to make. I have been in consultation with the Rev Dorothy Greene, Robin Ingram, Episcopal clergy in Westchester County, other local clergy, including the rabbi, and the communiques from our bishops. It is apparent to me that offering to keep the church open as a house of prayer for those who choose to come and pray over the weekend as well as for our daily recovery groups is good and holy. But to gather together in large numbers in shared spaces, no matter how holy and life giving, is very risky at this time, even with increased levels of precautions. We will be posting a video of a liturgy for this Sunday for you to do at home, a pastoral video, as well as other liturgical resources and prayers, on our website and more to come. We will keep you posted on events and meetings as well.
Do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or for more information through email or on my cell, 210-854-4811. The care of the souls of this community is of extreme importance to me as your rector.
Please continue to pray for all of those affected by this virus and for those who care for them.
Peace, gratitude, and love,
Lisa+
