Easter Appeal 2020

For the Easter Appeal this year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask you to support the newly-formed St. John’s Community Crisis Relief Fund that will be available to serve the different needs of our local and wider community going forward. Representing the houses of worship, Rev. Lisa is already part of a Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Coalition task force consisting of local community service agencies, school social workers, and other community representatives, that is identifying current and future needs as this pandemic impacts our lives. Each organization in the Coalition brings particular strengths and gifts, so by working together, we are better equipped to address the most pressing needs through timely and efficient action.

The St. John’s Community Crisis Relief Fund may sometimes partner with the Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Coalition or another organization such as Community Resource Center or The Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force; at other times a needed ministry may be generated directly by our church or in partnership with other houses of worship. We also are in close communication with the school social workers, so they may reach out to St. John’s on a special case-by-case basis. We believe that this Fund will give St. John’s the flexibility to be present and ready to meet the needs of our community in a variety of ways.

We want to thank all who have been recently involved in the Food Emergency Support, which will continue; as of this week, we will have prepared close to 4500 non-perishable food bags to distribute to the students eligible for free and reduced lunch. St. John’s has also been a site for food packing and distribution for two other community efforts. These types of shared ministries will continue as long as there is a need. We are thankful that St. John’s can be an integral part of such good and life-giving work.

Please give prayerful consideration now to this year’s Easter Appeal so that St John’s response to the shifting needs caused by this pandemic can be a part of our mission to “Make a Difference.”
