Greetings,
I understand and respect good self-care and healthy precautions during this time, and I also want to find ways to keep you connected to your church community. I am forwarding some prayers that I find important in my daily practice. They are in the prayer book, but seldom incorporated into the life of the church. When I was commuting back and forth from Austin to San Antonio during seminary, Kirk and I would pray these brief offices together either in person or over the phone to stay on the same path of what God was doing in our lives and in the life of the world. (Click here to download the prayers.)
I am happy to offer you the following prayers:
In the Morning
This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen. (BCP 461)
57. For Guidance
Direct us, O Lord, in all our doings with thy most gracious favor, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy Name, and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP 832)
59. For Quiet Confidence
O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP 832)
Even if you’re not physically in church, you are always with us in Spirit! Prayers abound.
Peace….Lisa+
